Moat House Farm, Shustoke, is this years winner of the Silver Lapwing Trophy for Conservation. Keith Bostock and his family have worked hard to encourage more wildlife into the surrounding farmland, by reinstating silted ponds, leaving margins around planted fields that are sown with wild flowers, and not cultivating a wet area which is a nesting site for Lapwings. An ancient Elizabethan Fish Pond site is also being recreated as a wetland area to continue the preservation of unusual plants such as Ragged Robin.
